Kinlec is a fun day designed for the club members and their families. During the day we hold an efficiency competition based on Imlec.
Competitors are entitled to a twenty minute run with a passenger load of their choice, plus an observer. Passengers can be dropped off if necessary but not added. Competitors must start under their own steam and must adhere to the speed limit of 8mph (ish).
Coal and workload are measured, the calculations done and the winner presented with a cup and memento of the day.
Kinlec 2011 saw the day continue to go from strength to strength. The 3 ½ competition was won by Paul with his Mona however he had to fight off a good run from Martin with his Doris.
The 5 inch competition was won by Iain with his Jubilee and a load of 12.5 passengers burning 0.43 pounds of coal in 5 laps. He faced stiff competition from Carl on Mike's Grange and another good performance from Pete with his Speedy.
The day also included refreshments in the form of tea, coffee, a barrel of beer, cider, bacon sandwiches and cake.
A big thank you must be given to the ladies for the catering, Ray our judge, Roger for measuring the coal, Allen for organizing the event, the committee and the members.
The day was a great success and we look forward to Kinlec 2012.
